Abstract :
Agustina, Lina. 2019. The use of photograph to improve the student?s ability in writing recount text : a case of eight grade students of Smp N 2 Bandar. Final Project. English Department. Faculty of Language and Art. University of PGRI Semarang. Key words : Writing. Recount Text, Photograph. The objectives of the study were (1) To find out the students? ability in writing recount text before using photograph, (2) To find out the students? ability in writing recount text after using photograph, (3) To find out the significant difference between the students? ability in writing recount text before using photograph and after using photograph. This research used quantitative reseach with the quasi-experimental design. The subject of the reseach were students of VIII A as an Experimental group that consist of 25 students and VIII B as Control group that consist of 25 student. The reseacher gave the Pre-test and Post-test to both of group and gave the treatment in Experimental group using photograph to measure the students writing ability in recount text. The result of post-test showed that (1) The students writing ability in writing recount text who were taught without using photograph was inadequate. It was shown by the mean of the post- test was 71,16 (2) the student?s writing ability in recount text who were taught with using photograph was good. It was shown by the mean of the post-test was 80,76 (3) there was significant difference of the students ability in writing recount text who are taught with using photograph and without using photograph. It was proved by the result of t-test was higher than t-table. It was (6,90>2,06). It means that hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on the conclusion, the students? score who were taught with using photographs as a media was higher than students? score who were taught without using photograph. It was effective to be used media in teaching writing recount text. Finally, this reseach is suggested for the teacher and students. The teacher can use photograph as a media in teaching writing recount text. The student can use photograph to improve the ability in writing recount text.
