Final Project, English Study Program, English Education Study Progam Faculty Of Language And Arts Education University Of PGRI Semarang. Advisor I : Sukma Nur Ardini, S.S., M.Pd. Advisor II : Sri Wahyuni, S.Pd,M.Pd Keywords: Turn Taking, Dialogue, ?Aquaman? movie script by James Wan. This final project studied turn taking strategies analysis of the characters dialogue in ?Aquaman? movie script by James Wan. The aims of this study were: (1) to find out the types of turn taking strategies are used in ?Aquaman? movie by James Wan. (2) to identify the ways of turn taking strategies are used by characters in ?Aquaman? movie by James Wan. This research used analytical qualitative method. In this research, the researcher used documentation technique to collect the data. The data of the research were taken from the characters dialogue in ?Aquaman? movie script by James Wan. The data has been analyzed by watched, selected, classified, categorized, and interpreted the contextual meaning of turn taking strategies was found in ?Aquaman? movie by James Wan. The results of this study showed that: the first, there were three types of turn taking strategies used by the characters dialogue in ?Aquaman? movie script by James Wan like taking the turn, holding the turn and yielding the turn strategies. The second, the researcher has analyzed the ways of turn taking strategies based on the types of turn taking strategies like yielding the turn presents the highest frequency. There are 78 utterances or (45%) consisting prompting, appealing, and giving strategy. And then, followed by taking the turn strategies which are 73 utterances or (43%) consisting starting up strategy, taking over strategy, and interrupting strategy. Then followed by holding the turn strategies which are 20 utterances or (12%) consisting filled pause and verbal fillers, silent pause, lexical repetition, and new start. In conclusion, it shows that turn taking strategies in ?Aquaman? movie has important role to make the conversation flows well. Then, it interesting for learning media in the study pragmatic and discourse because this movie can support all aspects in turn taking strategies.
