Ni?mah, Aniq Ma?rifatun . 2019. ?Increasing The Students Ability in Writing of Narrative Text by Using Video of The Eight Grade of Junior Hight School in Academy Year 2019/2020?. Final project, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts Education, University of PGRI Semarang. Advisor I : Dra. T Sri Suwarti, M.Pd. Advisor II : Sri Wahyuni S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: writing ability, narrative text, video The main objectives of this research are (1) to find out the ablity of students in junior high school in writing narrative texts without using video.(2) to find out the ability of junior high school students in writing narrative texts taught using video legends.(3) to find out whether there is any significant differences in ability in narrative texts between junior high school students thinking without using a video legend and being taught using a video legend. The researcher used quantitative pre experimental design that applied in one class. The researcher used purposive sampling because VIII D is low class from all class. The researcher used a test as method of data collection which considered of pre test that was given before treatment and post test which was given after treatment. The result of the pre test was 58,9 which is lower than averages score. The result of the post test was 77,26 which has met the averages score and could be categorized as good grade. In other words, the mean of pretest and post test were improved from 58,9 to 77,26. The result of test was 6,28 and the value of t- table was 2,14 in significance of 5%. There was significance difference between the students ability in writing narrative text before and after being taught using video model because the result of t- value was higher than t- table (6.28> 2,14) hypohesis (Ha) was accepted. The researcher achievement of improving students ability in writing narrative text with video of SMP Negeri 05 Pati has good result and the method could attract the students to learn easily. Thus, using video as learning model in teaching activities was effective.
