Final Project, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts Education, University of PGRI Semarang. Advisor I: Dr. Ngasbun Egar, M.Pd. Advisor II: Fitri Yulianti, S.Pd, M.Pd. Keywords: Deixis, Pragmatics, Writing, Descriptive Text This research deals with An Analysis of Deixis in Written Descriptive Text produced by Star Private Course. It is a qualitative research and use descriptive analysis as technique of data analysis. The objectives of the study : (1). Types of deixis are used in written descriptive text produced by Star Private Course students. The researcher found 5 types of deixis in 16 descriptive text. Person deixis used to know the speaker, the addressee or other participant in the utterance, Spatial deixis used to know the location of the speech situation between the participants, Temporal deixis used to know the exact moment of each expression with the moment of utterance as the reference point, Social deixis to know the social ranking or position between the speaker and the addressee in the society using language. and Discourse deixis to portion of a discourse relative to the speaker?s current ?location? in the discourse. (2). The result of finding of this study shows the dominate deixis in 16 written descriptive text produced by Star Privat Course student that person deixis is found 126 (74.56 %), spatial deixis is found 16 (9.47 %) , temporal deixis is found 11 (6.51%), social deixis 9 (5.32%) and discourse deixis 7 (4.14%). Person deixis is dominate in 16 descriptive text. (3). The deixis probably used in written descriptive text produced by Star Privat Course. From the reference, The deixis is probably used in this research because the reference from types of deixis 100% appropriate with reference types deixis in written descriptive text produced by Star Privat Course. this research is useful as reference to understand pragmatics especially deixis and how it?s applied in learning language or in daily life.
