Ludviantri, Yuniar, 2019. The Idiomatic Expression revealed in the Queen?s by Lyrics of A Night at The Opera. Final Project, English Education Department, Faculty of Language and Arts Education, University of PGRI Semarang. Advisor I: Dr. Nur Hidayat, M.Hum. Advisor II: Dias Andris, S.Pd, M.Pd This final project is conducted in order to analyze the types of idiomatic expressions found in Queen?s Lyrics on ?A Night at the Opera? album. The objectives of this research are, 1) to find out the categories of idiom in the song lyrics of Queen album entitled ?A Night at the Opera? . 2) to find out the idiom meaning found in the song lyrics of Queen album entitled ? A Night at the Opera? . This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is an album entitled ? A Night at The Opera? by Queen. In observing data, the observation has five steps. The writer downloads the lyrics and the songs of Queen?s album ?A Night at the Opera?, listening to the songs, reading the song lyrics, Identifying song lyrics, and classifying the data. As the result of this research, The writer finds 116 idioms in the Queen? s album ? A night at The Opera? . The Writer finds those Idiomatic Expression based on the context of sentences in the song lyrics. From the analysis , the writer discovers that the idiomatic of Queen? s album ? A Night at the Opera? are Similies (10%) contains 12 idiomatic expression, Binomial (22%) contains 26 idiomatic expression, Euphemisms (11%) contains 13 idiomatic expression, Cliche (3%) contains 3 idiomatic expression , Fix Statement (41%) contains 49 idiomatic expression, Proverb (5%) contains 6 idiomatic expression, Other Languages (7%) contains 8 idiomatic expression. Idiomatic expression meaning can be found in some ways. They are by understanding the whole song, looking at the format of the lyric, enriching our vocabularies, knowing the types of the utterances, and by using translator application. The researcher suggests that students can use song lyric because it can make the learner more interest in learning and get a fun experience in learning idiomatic expression. Then, teachers can use English song with the lyric as a media in teaching. By using English songs and the lyrics, learners can recognize many idiomatic expressions easier.
