Pujayanti, Zelin. 2019. ?Moral Values Mrs.Rowland and Alfred Characters in Short Story ?Before Breakfast? By Eugene O?neill In Teaching Literature?. Final Project, English Education Study Program, Faculty Language and Arts Education, Universitas PGRI Semarang. Advisor 1:RR. Festi HK, S.S, M.Hum, Advisor 2: Rahmawati S,SPd., M.Hum. Keywords: Moral values, Character, Teaching Literature This final project is mainly aimed to analyze character and moral value in Before Breakfast short story. The objectives of the research are; (1)to know what are the character Mrs.Rowland and Alfred of short story of found in Before Breakfast. (2) to find out the moral values Mrs.Rowland and Alfred found in the short story in Before Breakfast and (3) to determine the contribution of the analysis character and moral value Mrs.Rowland and Alfred found in the short story. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. The analysis of data was presented in the form of narrative or words instead of number. the data were analized by reading the story, understanding the contents of the story,finding out the moral value and the character from the story, analyzing the moral value and the character and, the last drawing conclusion. The character of Mrs.Rowland has 6 personal positive moral value: hard work, patient, humble, loyal, strunggle, realistic ; 1 personal negative moral values : nangging wife. The characters of Alfred has 1 pesonal positive moral values : totality of passion ; 6 personal negative moral value : slacker(lazy person). Druker, liar, disloyal, irresponsible, insensitive husband. The social moral value of Before Breakfast short story by Eugene O?neill are: The loyality in reationship is important, Feminism: wowan?s movement of having a job. This final project has 2 contributions in learning literature those can be used media for teaching literature, can be used as support source in teaching literature. The researcher hopes this research gives advantages for everyone who is concerned in literature study and may give another view and perception in viewing literary works as media to teach English. The teacher can use movie as media in learning process and control for the student?s attention of literature class especially learning moral value analysis based on character in the short story
