Kusuma, Candra Adhi. 2020. An Analysis of Illocutionary Act Used by Loki ?God Of Mischief? in Thor: Ragnarok Movie. Final Project, English Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts Education, University of PGRI Semarang. Advisor I: Arso Setiaji, S.Pd, M.Hum, Advisor 2: Th.Cicik Sophia B. S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Pragmatic, Illocutionary Act, Movie. This study focused on finding illocutionary acts in Thor:Ragnarok movie. The objectives of this study are (1) finding out the types of illocutionary acts used by Loki in Thor: Ragnarok movie, (2) to find out the dominant types of illocutionary acts used by Loki in Thor: Ragnarok movie and what does that means. This study used qualitative descriptive design. The result of the study found that there were 60 utterances categorized as illocutionary types. The illocutionary types found are assertives, directives, commisives, expressives, and declaratives. There are 9 utterances categorized as assertives type, 24 utterances categorized as directives type, 8 utterances categorized as commisive type, 12 utterances categorized as expressives type, and 7 utterances categorized as declaratives type. Directive type was the dominant type found in Loki?s utterances. The dominant of Loki?s utterance was the result of data finding on the second section. The reason as to why directive type dominate Loki?s speech because Loki is known for his mischief attitude because he is the God of Mischief. He often being softly sarcastic, in which he is mocking someone but not really mocking. It is all still using directive speech. Furthermore, directive represent asking, ordering, requesting, inviting, advising, and begging. As in this movie, Loki frequently talks directly to his brother (Thor) and as well with Thor friends too. And that?s why directive speech type is the most dominant type that Loki, the God of Mischief is used. Finally, this research is expected to be reference in learning Pragmatics, and Illocutionary acts.
