Widjaja, David Christian. 2019. The Use Of Pictures Series To Improve Students? Ability In Writing Procedure Text: A Case Of Ninth Grade Students Of SMPN 1 Welahan Jepara In Academic Year 2018/2019. Final Project, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts Education, University of PGRI Semarang, Advisor I: Dra. T. Sri Suwarti, M.Pd. Advisor II: Faiza Hawa, S.Pd.,M.Hum. Keywords: pictures series media, procedure text, writing skills. The aim of the research is to investigate the effectiveness of the using media pictures series to improve student?s skill in writing procedures text. The media pictures series is given as a treatment for experimental group, whether the control group which is taught without media pictures series, the teacher used power point presentation as a media in teaching, and Question-Answer as a technique in teaching. The method of this research is Quantitative research; the researcher used quasi experiment to compared two classes. This study used two groups of samples as experimental class and control class. Both groups were given pre-test, post-test, and treatment in experimental class only. An experimental group as a group taught by using pictures series media, and control group as a group taught without using pictures series media. The instrument of the research are pretest and posttest for both of control and experiment class, the treatment using media pictures series is given to experimental class, after the researcher collecting the data through pretest and posttest, then the researcher categorize the average score of the students into Excellent category (90-100), Good category (80-89), Adequate category (70-79), Unsatisfactory category (60-69), Unacceptable category (0-59). The data analysis that conducted in the research are : descriptive statistical analysis, Normality test analysis, Homogeneity test analysis, and paired sample t-test hypothesis testing, and for the technique of analysis the data is used application IBM SPSS Statistic 21. The result indicates, the used of Media pictures series is effective to improve students writing skills of procedure text, before using media pictures series, the average score of control class is Adequate category (70-79), while after the used of media pictures series the experiment class average score is Good category (80-89).
