Keywords:Figures of Speech, Song, A Star Is Born Movie, Poetry The objectives of this final project were to know the types of figures of speech used in Back Songs of ?A Star Is Born? Movie, and to know the contextual meaning of the figures of speech used in lyric of Back Songs of ?A Star Is Born? Movie. The type of the research was qualitative research which focused on the analysis of types of figures of speech and the contextual meaning of figures of speech in song lyrics of Back Songs of ?A Star Is Born? Movie.The object of the study was back song lyrics of ?A Star Is Born? Movie. In collecting the data, the researcher took some steps like choosing the songs and classifying the songs. The researcher found some contextual meanings of figure of speech in Back Songs of ?A Star Is Born? Movie. This album talks about love, and the contents of the songs mostly express the author feeling about her sorrow because her husband?s death. The researcher found thirty four expressions of figure of speech which are used in Back Songs of ?A Star Is Born? Movie. There are twenty two expressions of hyperbole, five expressions of personification, three expressions of simile, three expressions of symbol, and one expression of synecdoche. Thus, from this analysis, hyperbole were mostly found in this album. The researcher would like to give some suggestions for the readers, the students and the teacher. For the readers who want more comprehend about figure of speech, they should read some books about figure of speech.Moreover, the students should use song as a reference in learning English, especially in learning literature in order to make learning process easily. In addition, by reading this final project, the teacher is hoped to be able to improve their technique in teaching English especially through song.
