The study is aimed to describe the different types of code mixing and the different
reason used by two different movies (Critical Eleven and Taken). In this study, the
writer uses a qualitative method to analyze the data, explain the related theory to
code mixing and collect the data from video to the written transcription. Referring
to the theory according to Miles and Huberman (1994), the data classified into the
types of code mixing. The result of this study showed that native and non-native
speakers in Critical Eleven and Taken movie mostly used the first type of code
mixing called insertion but in a different frequency. Also it showed the reasons of
the characters mixed their language are because of personal reason or intention
such as not having appropriate words, willing to feel comfortable, keeping a secret
and clarifying a talk.
