Abstract :
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of snakehead fish (Channa striata) powder extract and turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder extract against redness and attachment of incision wounds in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). The experimental design used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatment group of incision wounds in white rats without therapy as a negative control (P0), treatment with administration of povidone iodine as a positive control (P1), treated group with snakehead fish powder extract (P2) and next treated group with turmeric powder extract (P3). White rats were incised in the back area 2 cm long with 0.05 mm depth then observed for 14 days. Observations were carried out every day with data collection day 1-6, day 7 , and day 8-14. The Kruskal Wallis statistical analysis results showed significant differences (p<0.05) between the treatment groups P0, P1, P2, and P3. The conclusion of this study showed that the administration of snakehead fish and turmeric powder extract effective in reducing wound redness better than the use of povidone iodine, while in the incision wound attachment parameters, the use of snakehead fish powder extract has better effectiveness than turmeric powder extract as well as povidone iodine.
