Abstract :
The objective of this research are to find out the Achievement of Writing Narrative Text of the Eighth Grade Students of Mts Naba’ul Ulum Pati In Academic Year 2012/2013 before and after being Taught By Using Puppet Show andwhether there is a significant difference between the Achievement of Writing Narrative Text of the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Naba’ul Ulum Pati In Academic Year 2012/2013 before and after being Taught By Using Puppet Show
In this research, the writer used quantitative experimental research as a design of the research. The data were collected by recording thepre test andpost-test class. Then, the writer identified and analyzed based on statistic calculation for getting good result accurately, completely and systematically. The population of this research is 75 students of the eighth grade students of MTs Naba’ulUlumPati in academic year 2012/2013 from VIII 1 –VIII 3 and the writer takes one classVIII 1 as a sample that consits of 25 students by using Cluster Random Sampling
The result of this research shows that the Achievement of Writing Narrative Text of the Eighth Grade Students of Mts Naba’ul Ulum Pati In Academic Year 2012/2013 before being Taught By Using Puppet Show is found the highest score is 69, and the lowest score is28. And from the calculation of the data, the mean is 44.4 and the standard deviation is 10.03. So, the result is “fairâ€. Meanwhile, The result of this research shows that the Achievement of Writing Narrative Text of the Eighth Grade Students of Mts Naba’ul Ulum Pati In Academic Year 2012/2013after being Taught By Using Puppet Show is found the highest score is 89, and the lowest score is 77. And from the calculation of the data, the mean is 82.8 and the standard deviation is 3.10. It is categorized as “goodâ€. For analyzing the data, the writer used t-test for getting t-observation. The result of t-observation (t0) is 4.78. Compared by t-table (tt) on the degree of freedom 24 in level of significance 5% is2.06, it means that the result of t-observation (t0) is higher than t-table (tt) and it shows there is significant different between the Achievement of Writing Narrative Text of VIII Grade Students of Mts Naba’ul Ulum Pati In Academic Year 2012/2013 before and after being Taught By Using Puppet Show.
Based on the research result above, the writer concludes thatPuppet Show is appropriate in improving the Achievement of Writing Narrative Text of the Eighth Grade Students of Mts Naba’ul Ulum Pati In Academic Year 2012/2013. For the English teacher and the other researcher, Puppet Show can be applied as a alternative media in teaching other skill like reading, listening, and speaking also it could be used for the other genres.
