Abstract :
This research paper is aimed to find out the types of code switching and explain the function of codes switching indicated in the Opening Show of Miss World 2013. Documentation method was used to collect the data. All of code switching and code mixing found in the Opening Show of Miss World 2013 was taken to be the data. In finding out the realization of code switching and its use, the writer recorded the conversation in the Opening Show of Miss World 2013. In analyzing the data, the writer applied qualitative technique. The findings indicate the existence of twenty one codes switching in the data. The speakers mostly switched to ease communication (40%), to reiterate the point (20%), to capture attention (30%), to communicate more effectively (10%).
