Abstract :
Leachate is a trash liquid as a product of mixture of both solute and suspension
with the high pollutant content contained in the trash. Leachate is a liquid formed from
chemical compounds as a product of trash and water decompositions enter into trash pile
coming from rain water, drainage duct, ground water, another sources around the TPA
(landfill/last disposal site) of Benowo. Leachate coming from the trash-collecting site can
have impact on the increasingly high the environmental contamination level around the
TPA of Benowo.
For that reason, it is needed to make observation and analysis to the leachate quality
emerged particularly in the rainy and dry seasons with the different qualities in each
season. From the study did at the TPA of Benowo location, thus it was needed the
availability of processing effort to the leachate existed before it was disposed to the water
body/river. In this research used aerobically biological process by using the multilevel
aeration system by using discharge variables of 100 ml/min, 150 ml/min, 200 ml/min,
250 ml/min, 300 ml/min and re-circulation ratios of 20%, 25% and 30%.
From the research results there were obtained the highest BOD, COD and TSS
contents decrease efficiencies in the leachate were for BOD and COD in the discharge of
100 ml/in with re-circulation ratio of 20% with the elimination efficiency of 97% and
98%, while for TSS took place in the discharge of 100 ml/min with re-circulation ration
of 25% with the elimination efficiency of 80%.
