Abstract :
This research was conducted to know the motive in Surabaya children watching programs OPERA ANAK
on Trans7.
By using the Uses and Gratifications approach that shows that the main problem is not the media to change
attitudes and behavior of audiences, but how the media meet the personal needs and social audiences.
The research method used is descriptive quantitative with the type of data used in this research is the
primary data obtained directly from respondents by using questionnaires and secondary data are used as supporting
data for analysis. While the sample of this research is part of the kids are watching Surabaya OPERA CHILD on
Trans 7 of the 100 children, withdrawal of sample use cluster random sampling technique.
From the results of this study can be concluded that the motives that dominate children's impressions of
Surabaya in OPERA ANAK in Trans7 is entertainment motive, motive and motif information integration and social
interaction into the high category while the motive of personal identity into the medium category.
