Abstract :
This research was conducted to examine the contents of the messages conveyed by the
author and to find the depiction, commercial sex workers through a real lesbian novel "Chrysan",
the work of Joseph Hapie Aloysia
The foundation of the theories used in the form of qualitative research with semiology
approach, namely how a work is interpreted subjectively by the observers and the public via a sign
- a sign or symbol - a symbol that exist in the novel according towith the frame of reference and
field of experience of each individual .
In this study using the method of semiology Roland Barthez who interpret any element or
elements contained in the novel to be included into the five code pembacan the hermeneutic code,
the symbolic code, semic code, code and code proaretik gnomic.
The results of this study based on analysis and interpretation of results of research on the
depiction of behavior which is the main character of a commercial sex worker who Lesbians in the
novel "Chrysan" is interpreted as a phenomenon that is contrary to religious teachings, social
norms and moral norms prevailing in society, so that its existence less acceptable as part of
behavior in society.
