Abstract :
This study to determine the representation of a king through the figure of
King George VI (Bertie) in the film The King's Speech. Based on the background of the
above problems then the problem formulation of the study is "how a king who stutter speak
fluently is required to be presented through the character of King George VI (Bertie) in the
film The King Speech.Peneliti using the codes Television John Fiske, because levels in the
code can not be separated and is a union that could help researchers to present a King in
the film "The King's Speech". The codes that will be used to dismantle the meaning
contained in the film is that icons representing a king in the movie "The King's Speech"
among levels of reality, representation, and ideology. Data analysis techniques to be used
in examining the representation of a king in the movie "The King's Speech" using the
model of Miles and Huberman. This model is used for the purpose of data in order to
complete then that researchers using qualitative data analysis using an interactive and
directly continuous with the following stages (Sugiyanto, 2008): data reduction, data
presentation, and verification or kesimpulan.Hasil research on This movie can be found
scenes, dialogue, and conflict that depicts a king who uniquely different from other kings.
King has a speech impairment or speech, but as a king at least have an advantage when
speech before rakyatnya.penelitian shows how the struggle of a king who stutter to speak
fluently in front of people, when he realizes that he has many shortcomings and not worthy
of being a king but nevertheless he still can not run from his position as a king. He
demanded to be able to convey his message through the state speech because the state
condition is unstable and conflict with other countries. And finally he can speech well
despite many shortcomings, but it was enough to make people happy and foster a spirit to
remain calm and united to face the situation.
