Abstract :
Background. Sugarcane is one of the superior commodity, which will be ready for
consumption sugar for the community. In order to maintain the productivity of
government efforts to promote sugar cane cultivation to overcome the low sugar
production in Indonesia. This was done due to the increase of demand for sugar
increased, low-income residents due to lack of employment and consumption
patterns change with the needs sugar. This cane farming activity that is important
is the sugarcane farmers. Sugarcane farmers in berusahatani also need a
perception and motivation. Perception is defined as a person's response to
something important or causing anxiety in social life, while motivation is a factor
that drives people to act in certain ways. The relationship between perception and
motivation were related to one another, which means, if a farmer thinks positive
about farming tebunya, the motivation of farmers were also positive (good) or
getting excited. If farmers have difficulty in berusahatani cane or the sugar
factory orders should provide motivation for farmers to plant more cane inspired
again. Purpose. Assessing the perception of farmers on sugarcane cultivation in
the District Reinforcement Sidoarjo, to find motivation in berusahatani sugarcane
farmers, to analyze whether there is any relationship between perception and
motivation in berusahatani cane, and to know the constraints that exist in the
District of Reinforcement. Research Methods. Sampling was done randomly
proportional (proportional random sampling), as many as 52 respondents sample
taken using a questionnaire. Discussion of the results. Perceptions of farmers on
sugarcane cultivation in the District Reinforcement, Sidoarjo in tillage, planting
and plant maintenance way tebunya easy, low cost, schedule, and ground
transportation slash timely and satisfactory sharing system. Motivation in
planting sugarcane farmers include: seeking income, individual ability

Constraints in the berusahatani sugarcane among others: delays in the
distribution of fertilizer and the lending business for sugarcane farmers, in

higher elsewhere. Therefore, to support the smooth process of sugarcane
cultivation government should also participate by providing subsidy to sugar mills
for cane farmers.Conclusion. There is a relationship between the perception and
motivation. There is a significant impact on how the planting of sugarcane and
sugarcane plant maintenance, while others are not significant.
