Abstract :
This study draws attention to the meaning implied in the message conveyed in the cartoon "Nunun Nurbaeti" on the issue of Tempo magazine cover 19 to 25 December 2011. Researchers used a qualitative descriptive method with semiotic analysis of the meaning of the cartoons. In this study, researchers used a triangular theory of Charles Sanders Pierce's significance to the three categories are icons, indexes, and symbols. Sources or the theory that there are no studies include: the theory of Charles Sanders Pierce triangle of meaning, social criticism, political communication, editorial cartoons, caricatures as the communication process. Source or theory is used as a basis or reference in the discussion of the research. The results purport Nunun Nurbaeti caricature on the front cover illustration Tempo Magazine issue 19 to 25 December 2011 is the reference of the phenomena occurring in our communities. The choice of illustrations look that way because it is considered to represent the whole of the information contained in the magazine Tempo. Display Nunun Nurbaeti meaning caricature, it is expected to convey the desired communicator in this case is the magazine Tempo.
