Abstract :
The purpose of this research is for knowing the meaning of verbal and non-verbal symbols of lesbian community in Surabaya, East Java. The theory base that used in this research is The meaning of communications, interpersonal communications, Communications is the part of symbolic, the meaning theory, verbal and non-verbal communications, semiotic theory by Saussure, identifications consep, sociologhy, woman exercise and lesbianism . The method that used in this research is a descriptive qualitative of research method, that used in the semiotic theory by Saussure. The research object is verbal and non-verbal symbols in the lesbian community at Surabaya, East Java. The results from observations and identifications is knowing two non verbal symbols, ?blue star and black axe?. And rhe verbal symbols is ?adinda, ananda, bismila, cekong, polo, Mawar, Makassar, Belalang, Ngemes, dan Organda?
