Abstract :
The background of this research is based on a lack of harmony in the relationship between adolescents with single mothers due to divorce . Due to this reason the authors examine the communication patterns of the single fathers with their teenagers . It is also intended to understand the communication patterns of errors like what happened . In order for the pattern of poor communication between a single father with a teenage son can be avoided . General purpose of this study was to describe the communication patterns of the single fathers with older children in Surabaya. Results of this study are a single father families with older children who embraced authoritarian communication patterns ( authoritarian ) , a single father families with older children permessive pattern analysis ( frees ) and a single father families with older children adopted authoritative communication patterns ( democracy).So broadly average family in Surabaya implement communication patterns between single fathers with older children it balanced . All three types of balanced communication patterns used by the parent in the relationship , educating with their teenagers . By applying the communication patterns of authoritarian , then the child will feel uncomfortable and unhappy because life is too restrained , stiff and rough hard so be bad for the children in the study who had no sense of the same sex , and some are often lied to his father in order to permit to exit . Thus causing a less harmonious relationship and the resulting quality of communication between father and son is not well and not supported the role of a father he should do for his son .
