Abstract :
This study aims to answer the statement of the problems : (1) What types of focalization are used in Dr. Seuss. The Grinch Movie, (2) How does focalization in the movie explain what the narrator knows about the story. Dr. Seuss? The Grinch movie is the one of the movie that use narrator to help convey the story. This movie is tell about green haired creature named The Grinch who hates Christmas and want to destroy Christmas. The researcher uses theory by Genette (1980) and the researcher uses qualitative method of research. At first the researcher will study about the topic, and then the researcher will collect and observe the data from the object after that the researcher will explain the result of the observation from the researcher object. The results of the analysis showed that : (1) This movie use zero focalization (omniscient narrator). The researcher explains and analyzes the narrator?s utterance in this chapter. The narrator uses zero focalization because the narrator have the knowledge about the story and know more than the character knows, (2) The narrator knows not only the character feelings, past, activities, minds but also minor character feelings and activity. The narrator also knows about the situation, the setting place of the story
