Abstract :
This thesis present a descriptive study of the strugle of Rudy Baylor as a lawyer in the insurance bad faith case. The writer chooses John Grishams The Rainmaker as his research subject since the thesis commonly discusses about the conflict in the novel. The writer makes limitation to discuss the object about Rudy Baylor characteristics, setting, theme, plot, and the conflict. The object of study was to find out the character of Rudy Baylor as a main character, the setting, the plot, and to know what the conflict between Dot & Buddy Black and Great Benefit Life Insurance Company is. To analyze this novel, the writer used structuralism approach to find out Rudy Baylors character and problems which cause conflict between Dot & Buddy Black with Great Benefit Insurance Company. The result of the study leads to be sensitive understanding toward social problems. Wvwryone should not agree to injustice and unfairness, because it againsts humanity values. Every country in the world is never recieved when oppresion, discrimination and unfairness still exist in our society. The main point is that unfairness is not a humanly.
