Abstract :
The research attempts to analyze the genre in reading texts of the first semester students of FBIB Unisbank. The thesis entitled ?Genre Recognized In The Reading Texts Discussed For The First Semester Students Of Fbib Unisbank?has two research questions. They are (1) what kinds of genres are found in the reading texts for the first semester students of FBIB Unisbank? (2) What are the communication purposes from those reading texts? The data of this research are taken from the reading texts used by the first semester students of FBIB Unisbank in reading lesson. The unit of analysis is text. The researcher found three kinds of text types from 11 reading texts. Those text types are Description, Report and Explanation. The communicative purposes of those reading texts are to describe someone or something in detail (Description). To classify, describe or to present information (Report). To explain how or why something occurs (Explanation).
