ABSTRACT
One of the goals of economic development is to overcome unemployment, many factors that can cause unemployment. This study aims to examine the effect of population, GRDP, provincial minimum wage and education on unemployment in West Sumatra. This study uses secondary data during the period of 2000-2016 which is sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of West Sumatra. While the data analysis used is multiple linear regression analysis using program package Eviews 8.
The results of this study indicate: 1) the number of population has a negative and significant effect on unemployment, 2) GDP has negative and not significant impact on unemployment, 3) provincial minimum wage has positive and significant impact on unemployment, 4) education level negatively and significantly affect unemployment
