Abstract :
In this research, the writer analzes the effects of social problems in Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes. The novel ilustrated how the sosial life of African-American and the most problem towards them. The analysis has two purposes, which are describing about the social problem and the effect towards African-American faced the social problems. The social problem that writer finds are poverty, violence, crime, and racial discrimination. The effect that writer find are anxiety, isolated, and affirmative action. The writer uses the analysis of sosiology of literature from Laurent and Swingwood and history approach fom Jhones,Bartles as a theory. The method that writer applied is close reading method for searching the details by observe, and collect the data to prove the analysis. The result shows that the Afro- American as ilustrated in the novel have poverty, violence, crime and racial discrimination. Those giving impact for their life like anxiety with other, they was isolated with other neighborhood and they want to change their situation against discriminiation with affirmitive action. keyword : Sosiology of literature, Sosial Problem, Effect
