Abstract :
In this study, the author analyses the movie of Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire in one of the translation procesdures namely translation shift. In this study, the author would like to describe: (1) type of shift found in translation of subtitle Harry potter and Goblet of Fire movie. (2) find possible reasons for the shift found in its translation.This study uses a qualitative method. Data from this study were taken from the subtitles of the film Harry Potter and Gobet of Fire from English and Indonesian. this research refers to Catford's theory. From the analyses of the data, writer found saveral types translation shift, namely lanel shift and catagor shift. Catagory shift have 4 types: structure shift, unit shift,class shift and intra system shift.we find that therre are culture ang language structures that influences the translation shift Keywords: translation, type of translation shift, possible reason UNIVERSITAS
