Abstract
Hospitalization causes children to experience separation from their families, being in a new and unfamiliar environment, children cannot carry out their activities including playing activities so those caused hospitalization anxiety in children. Playing is one of the nursing interventions to minimize the impact of hospitalization. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Puzzle and Lego Games on Hospitalization Anxiety for Preschool-aged Children in the Lotus Room of Sidoarjo Hospital. The design of this research was Quasy Experiment with Two group pre post test design approach. The independent variables of the research are puzzle and lego games. The dependent variable was hospitalization anxiety. The study population was all preschool-age children in the lotus room at Sidoarjo Hospital with an average number of patients per month of 70 patients. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique as many as 60 respondents who were divided into two research groups. Data was collected using the Facial Image Scale (FIS) instrument and tested using the paired t test. The results showed that the average posttest score in the lego game group = 2.17 was greater than the puzzle game group = 2.07. This shows that giving lego games is more effective in helping to reduce the anxiety of hospitalization in preschoolers. The results of the paired t test showed a value of ? = 0.00 = 0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted so that there was a difference in hospitalization anxiety in the puzzle group and the lego group in the Lotus Room of Sidoarjo Hospital. Providing puzzle and lego games affects the reduction of hospitalization anxiety in children, where many experience moderate and mild anxiety rather than severe anxiety.
