Abstract :
This research discussed about The Social Messages of Ma'jaga Poems in Kaluppini District, Enrekang Regency that aimed to find out the social messages conveyed in Ma'jaga poems. This research focused on the social messages convey in Ma'jaga poems in Kaluppini using Semiotic theory based on Roland Barthes. This research applied descriptive qualitative method to revealed the data. The researcher used the interview sheet as the instrument of the research to describe the messages. The findings revealed that there were six data of poems, they were Ma'jaga Papanataran, Ma'jaga rapu-rapu, Ma'jaga Penyambutan, Ma'jaga Panyappanan, Ma'jaga botting and Ma'jaga Pa'balibota, The researcher concluded that the message of Ma'jaga poem was messages toward both parents and son/daughter, message to be always grateful to Almighty Allah Swt. for the grace and blessings that He has given us, always remembering Him, keeping all his commandments and avoiding his prohibitions, and endeavor in achieving something to be desired.
