Abstract :
The result of the data analysis indicate that there was significant improvementin the students’ reading comprehension development after being taught cognitive reading strategies as a reading method. It was proved by the result of the statistical analysis of the level significance p= 0.05 with degree of freedom (df= N-1(29))indicated that, the t-test values of the students reading comprehension (5.56) than t-table (2.045). Based on the fact, the writer concluded that, cognitive reading strategies were effective to develop the students’ reading comprehension at SMPN 3 Bulukumpa Kab. Bulukumba.
