Abstract :
The data were collected through speaking test in pre-test and post-test. The
result of the data indicated that there was a significant difference between
students’ post-test in experimental class and control class. The mean score of
post-test (2.12) in experimental class was greater than the mean score of posttest
(1.57) in control class and the standard deviation of post-test (0.80) in
experimental class was greater than the standard deviation of post-test in control
class (0.58). From t-test, the researcher found that the value of t-test (3.66) was
greater than t-table (2.042) at the level of significance (α) = 0.05 with degree of
freedom (df) = (N1 + N2)-2 = (20 + 20) – 2 = 38 Based on the finding and discussion of the research, the researcher drew a conclusion that the use of outdoor learning method is effective to improve thestudents’ speaking ability in the second year students at MTs Izzatul Ma’arif Tappina Kab. Polewali Mandar.
