Abstract :
This research was about the myth which aimed to describe the myth of Excalibur according to Barthes, and to figure out the evidences of Excalibur shown to King Arthur based on Peirce's theory. The researcher based on Barthes' theory about the myth. This research was descriptive qualitative method in revealing the data. The researcher used note taking as instrument in order to get the valid data. The researcher found that there were eight myths in the legend, they were; emergence of the Excalibur sword, stone, war, strength of'Excalibur sword in a battle, strength of a Excalibur sword in another knights hand, lady of the lake, strength of Excalibur in bleeding Arthur, and King Arthur's death. The result of the exposure of the evidence indicated the sword of Excalibur were messages as evidences, battle, excalibur swords.
