Abstract :
The purpouse of this study was to determine the effect of the DLTA method on the listening skills of students in SMP Negeri 1 Bintan. The method used is a quantitative method where data is presented numerically and tested by t -test. The research design was a quasi-experimental design involving 25 students in VII G as experimental class and 25 students in VII H as a control class. Experimental class are taught using the DLTA method and the control class uses conventional methods. The researcher gave the pretest before the learning activity. After the teaching and learning activities were completed the researcher gave posttest to find out the achievement of students' listening skills. Pretest and posttest scores were analyzed by descriptive statistical tests. Then the data is tested by homogeneity test, normality test, and hypothesis test. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the DLTA method on listening skills of students in SMP Negeri 1 Bintan.
