Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to find out the difficulties that faced by sixth semester students of English Education Study Program at Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji Tanjungpinang in translating analytical exposition text. The method that used is descriptive method with quantitative approach. This study was conducted in Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji. The population of this study was the sixth semester students of English Education Study Program at Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji Tanjungpinang. The total number of the population was 87 students. The researcher chose D01 class as a sample by using purposive sampling technique. The total sample was 20 students. The instruments of this study were the translation test and the questionnaire that consisted of 22 items.This study found that the students faced the difficulties in translating exposition text. Based on the result, the mean score was still low. The mean score of the translation test was 6.6. The biggest difficulty was linguistic factor, the highest percentage of this factor was 95%. Beside the linguistic factor, the highest percentage of linguistic factor was 80%.
