Abstract :
This study aimed to know how is teachers? perception towards PQRST strategy in teaching reading comprehension at SMPN 5 Tanjungpinang. The subject of this research was the English teacher consists of 2 teachers. According to Sulistyo (2011), the PQRST strategy is one of the teaching strategies that has five stages in teaching reading: Preview, Question, Read, Summarize, and Test. In each stage, it improved the teaching learning process and also improved students? ability in reading comprehension. The research design is descriptive qualitative with analysis technique. The setting of place in this research was at SMPN 5 Tanjungpinang. The instruments in collecting the data are interviews and questionnaires. Based on the instrument, the researcher assessed teachers? perception by thirteen statements. The results showed that the teachers have a positive perception towards PQRST strategy in teaching reading comprehension at SMPN 5 Tanjungpinang.
