Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to describe how English action learning
strategy improves the students? speaking skill and to reveal what the students?
perceptions are by using action learning strategy to improve their speaking ability
at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Air Nangak. The method used of this research was
class action research (CAR). The population in this research were all the students
of class VIII of SMPN 1 Air Nangak in the academic year 2020/2021 which
consisted of 20 students. The data collected through pre-test and post -test. Based
on the result of the research, there is the students were more active and
participated in the speaking teaching-learning process. In the first test (pre-test),
the number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 75 was 1 out of
20 students (5%). In the second test (post-test I), students who scored above 75 or
passed minimum mastery criterion were 7 out of 20 students (35%). In the third
test (post-test II), the students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 75 were
17 out of 20 students (85%).
