Abstract :
This research aimed to describe how the SQ3R method improves students reading skills in English learning in the tenth grade of SMK N 2 Anambas. The technique used in this research was classroom action research (CAR). The population in this research was conducted in class X of SMK N 2 Anambas in the academic 2021/2022, which consisted of 20 students. There were 6 female and 14 male students.
To collect the data the researcher was collected through Pre-test and Post-test. When Pre-test was conducted to know how far the students? prior competence in construct the reading skill. While, Post-test was conducted to know how far the students improve the students result in reading skill by used SQ3R method. In the first test (pre-test), the number of students who passed the minimum mastery criterion of 75 was 3 out of 20 (15%). In the second test (Post-test I), students who scored above 75 or passed the minimum mastery criterion were 7 out of 20 students (35%). In the third test (Post-test II), the students who passed the minimum mastery criterion of 75 were 17 out of 20 students (85%). Based on the research results, there were the students who more active and participated in the reading learning process and were very enthusiastic in the learning process.
