Abstract :
The research is conducted to analyze the Difficulty in writing narrative text. this research process and result were united and written in a paper entitled ?An Analysis of Students? Difficulties in Writing Narrative Text at Grade 10 SMAN 2 Tanjungpinang?. There are five aspects in writing: content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. Therefore, this study aimed to analyzed the students' difficulty in writing narrative text related to the five aspect of English narrative text. This research study used a descriptive qualitative research design. The subject was 25 students of X Bahasa. In collecting the data, this research used questionnaire and interview. To analyze the data, it used three steps by Miles and Huberman, they were data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing or verification. The result showed that there were some types of student? difficulties in writing narrative text such as: content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. but dominant in vocabulary and grammar. Beside that the researcher found the causes of students? difficulties in writing narrative were grammatical weakness, lack of knowledge, and less practice. From the conclusion of this research, the researcher suggests that the readers who want to make better their writing especially in writing narrative text, they should pay attention in the correct rules of writing in every detail.
