Abstract :
This study aimed at improving students? vocabulary mastery through word wall at the eighth grade of SMPN 2 Tanjungpinang. The subject of this research was the VIII.1 grade students which consisted of 37 students, 20 for female and 17 for male students. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) and decided to conduct action research by implementing the model proposed by Arikunto. There were two cycles with three meetings in each cycle. There were four board in each cycles: planning, action, observation and reflection The results of the research showed that the implementation of the word wall media in the English teaching and learning process was effective to improve the students? vocabulary mastery. They could more easily identify the vocabulary. Moreover, their motivation and enthusiasm in English learning also improved. Furthermore, there was an increase from 28.8 to 75.5 from the pretest to the posttest. It concluded that through media word wall the students? vocabulary mastery improved.
