Abstract :
This study aimed to find the effectiveness of using picture series media in tecahing reading comprehension of recount text to tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan. This study used a quasi-experimental design. The participants of this study were tenth grade students at SMAN1 Teluk Bintan. They were X. IPS 1 class, and X. IPS 2 class, wich X.IPS 1 was the experimental class and X. IPS 2 was the control class. To know the effectiveness of treatments, pre-test and post-test were done. The test was in the form of reading test. The test data were analyzed using the T-test statistical analyzed and mean. The mean score of the experimental class was 60.45 for the pre-test and 90.91 for the post-test. Meanwhile, the control class mean scores for the pre-test and post-test were 68.57 and 71.43. However, the mean score of the experimental course was higher than the control class. Furthemore, the T-test of a tcount is large than ttable (8.195 > 1.32543). Based on the mean and the T-test calculation, there was effectiveness after the treatments by using picture series in experimental class. In conclusion the, the Ha Hyphothesis was accepted that the picture series is effective for teaching reading comprehension in recount text at tenth grade of SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan.
