Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to find out whether or not the use of Story Mapping strategy is more effective in students? reading comprehension on narrative text at 10th grade of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang. This research used quasi-experimental design. The population in this research was the 10th grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang. In this research, the sampling technique used by researcher was cluster random sampling. The researcher selected X BD and X BRTL-2 as the samples of the research. The experimental class was X BD and the control class was X BRTL-2. The research instrument of this research was reading test. The data was analyzed by SPPS 23 application. The results of the data analysis showed that students who learned reading comprehension by using Story Mapping (86.66) got higher score than the students who learned by using Small Group Discussion (67.81). It can be concluded that the use of Story Mapping is more effective compared to Small Group Discussion in students? reading comprehension on narrative text at 10th grade of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang.
