IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL OF RECOUNT

Abstract :
The purpose of the study was to find out wheter using Short Movie media was able to improve the students? writing skill of recount text at the eight grade of SMPN 10 Tanjungpinang. The subject of this research was the VIII grade students? which consisted of 31 student, 15 male students and16 female students. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) and decided to conduct action research by implementing the model proposed by Kemmis and MC Taggart. There ware two cycle with two meetings in each cycle. There where four board in each cycle: planning, action, observation and reflection. The result of the research showed that the using Short Movie media was able to improve the students? writing skill of recount text using short movie at 8th grade of SMPN 10 Tanjungpinang. The student were more participated and motivated in the writing teaching-learning process. In the first cycle the number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 70 were 11 out of 3 1 students (35.48%). In the second cycle, the number number of students who passed minimum mastery criterion of 70 were 26 out of 31 students (83.87%).
