Abstract :
The reason the researcher chose this title was because of the previous teaching method used by teachers at SMAN 1 Toapaya which caused learning outcomes to not be achieved. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out whether the use of story mapping techniques as learning materials in narrative texts can improve the reading comprehension of class XI students of SMAN 1 Toapaya. The subjects of this study were class XI students consisting of 32 students, 19 male students and 13 female students. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) and researchers use this research to conduct action research by implementing the model proposed by Arikunto. There are two cycles with four meetings in each cycle. There are four stages in each cycle: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The instruments used were tests (post-test) and observation. The results showed that the use of story mapping techniques in teaching narrative texts could improve the reading comprehension of class XI students of SMAN 1 Toapaya. In cycle I the number of students who met the minimum completeness criteria of 70 was 8 students out of 32 students (25%). In cycle II the number of students who met the minimum completeness criteria was 70 as many as 27 students out of 32 students (85%). The research conducted observations in class XI IPS 2. With a total of 32 students consisting of 19 boys and 13 girls.
