Abstract :
This study aims as an authentic material to improve students' reading comprehension. The subjects of this research were class VIII students of SMPN 10 Tanjungpinang. The number of samples used in this thesis amounted to 31 students. The research method used was classroom action research (CAR), which consisted of two cycles. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitatively carried out with the observation checklist while quantitatively using the post test. Based on data using qualitative data, it can be seen that students' responses increased in reading comprehension in the observation checklist. In the first cycle the percentage of students in reading comprehension was 65% and in the second cycle the percentage of students in reading comprehension increased to 81%. the percentage of students who scored above 75 in the first post test amounted to 20 out of 31 students (65%). The percentage of students in the second post test who achieved MMC was 25 out of 31 students (81%). The data has shown that the use of Webtoon improves the reading comprehension of class VIII students of SMPN 10 Tanjungpinang using the classroom action research method for 2 cycles.
