THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING U-DICTIONARY APPLICATION TOWARD STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ON TENTH-GRADE STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 4 TANJUNGPINANG

Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to know whether or not there is significant effectiveness of using U-dictionary application toward students? vocabulary on tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang. The research was quantitative method that applied the pre-experimental with one group pre-test post-test design. This research took one class which is taught by using U-dictionary application. The populations of this research were the students of tenth grade. The total number populations were 32 students. This number is taken as the sample of this research by using purposive sampling. This research was conducted by the following procedure giving pre-test, conducted the treatment, and giving a post-test. Then, the research data were obtained through instruments by giving the test in multiple choice questions to the students. There were 30 questions on each pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed after getting the score of the test and processed by using SPSS version 25.0. The result of this research showed that the t-count (13-097) exceeded the t-table (2.04). The result of this research showed that the mean of the pre-test score was (53.61) and it increased in post-test into (81.11). This analysis indicated that of sig.2 tailed (0.000) < (0.05). Therefore, (H_a) is accepted and (H_(0 )) is rejected. The result of this research showed that there was a significant difference between the students taught before using U-dictionary application and after using U-dictionary application. So, the U-dictionary application has significant effectiveness toward students' vocabulary on tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang.
