Abstract :
This research aims to know what difficulties do the students faced in writing narrative text. The researcher used descriptive quantitative method in this reseach. This research conducted in SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang, the subject of this research were tenth grade (X IPS-3) students. The researcher collected the data used questionnaire for all students and interview with two students that is student who had the highest score in English course and student who had the lowest score in English course. The result of this research showed that most of the students had difficulties in writing sentences by using regular/irregular verbs, students have difficulties in revising their own writing to improve verb and tenses, students' difficulties in using the correct vocabulary, students difficulties in using standard language in writing, students difficulties in using variety of sentence structure, students difficulties in identifying problem in their writing and see what should be improve, students difficulties in differentiate between nounnoun phrase, or pronoun, students difficulties in writing a good narrative text, and the last was students difficulties in identifying the subject and verb agreement in a sentence.
