Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Duolingo application on the vocabulary of class VIII students of SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang. This study uses a quasi-experimental design as its methodology. The research population was class VIII students of SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang. 20 students from class 8.1 as the experimental class, and 20 students from class 8.2 as the control class, the two classes were selected to be the sample. Only the experimental class will be taught using the Duolingo application. Multiple choice exams are used as a research tool for pre and post-tests. The t-test was used to assess research data. Based on statistical analysis with a significance threshold of 5%, it was determined that to =3.094 is greater than tt =0.235. The results of this study show that the use of the Duolingo application has a positive influence on the vocabulary mastery of class VIII students of SMPN 11 Tanjungpinang.
