Abstract :
This study aims to determine students' vocabulary mastery in grade 7. This research is a qualitative research by choosing grade 7 as the sample and English teacher as the informant. The data were collected by using instruments such as: documentation and in-depth interviews with informants. The data were analyzed qualitatively. The result of this study is the lack of knowledge of 7th grade students about English vocabulary. Lack of interest in learning English makes students have difficulty in learning English vocabulary. Students are not used to using English in everyday life, lack of confidence in students, and students tend to be afraid of making mistakes, as well as lack of motivation to learn English.
