Abstract :
This study analyzed the personal reference in narrative text. The method used in this research was qualitative research. Writing test is used as an instrument of data retrieval. The subject of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 6 tanjungpinang. The result of this research showed that students use a personal reference in accordance with their respective capabilities. The personal reference most commonly used the students is the personal pronouns used 100 times or 66.67%, whereas the possessive determiners were used 43 times or 35.83%, and the last is possessive pronouns used 3 times or 5.00%
