Nainggolan, Nilam Patrhechia. 2024 ?An Analysis of Students? Difficulties In English Speaking Skill At 11th Grade SMA N 21 Batam? A Thesis of Departement English Language Education, Faculty of Teacher and training Education. University Maritim Raja Ali Haji . Tanjung Pinang. Advisors: (I) Assist. Prof. Rona Elfiza, S.Pd., M.Pd. (II) Assist. Prof. Dewi Nopita, S.Pd., M.P.d. Keyword : Speaking, Speaking Difficulties, Strategies of Teaching Speaking There were 2 factors affecting the students facing in speaking problem these were psychological problem and language problem. The objectives of this research was to found students? difficulties in speaking English at SMA N 21 Batam. To do the research, this research used descriptive qualitative researched to planning and taking the data. For the sample of this study was the 11 IPS 3 which was consist with 36 students in the class. To chose the sample, researcher used purposive sampling. From the result of data questionnaire researcher analyzed that students faced many problems as the reason to not to speak in English. After that researcher also got the result of interview for the psychological aspect, they are lack of motivation because their friends are not using English when they should to used it. The psychological problem and the language problem was affect students in spoke English. From the psychological problem, students feel worried if they should speak without preparation and out of the topic. And from the language problem, students hard to speak because they did not fluent in speaking English.
